Imperial EFDS application support

Personal statement feedback, application advice and mock interviews for Imperial's Economics, Finance and Data Science (EFDS) course, from a current EFDS student who went through the process for the 2025 intake.

Who runs the sessions

I'm Yong, a student on Imperial's Economics, Finance and Data Science course. I applied, interviewed and got in for the 2025 intake, so I know the process from the applicant's side and what the course is actually like once you're here.

What I offer

Personal statement feedback & general advice
£50 / hour
  • Feedback on your drafts, from first ideas to the final version
  • Structure, content and how well it fits what EFDS looks for
  • What to read, explore and write about
  • General advice on the application and what to expect

Book from 30 minutes, then in 15 minute steps at the hourly rate.

How many sessions should I book?

It depends on where you are starting from, but as a guide, a strong applicant preparing thoroughly would typically have around ten or more sessions in total, split between the personal statement and interview preparation.

As an example, in the most recent admissions cycle I supported an applicant through the full EFDS application: around eight sessions on the personal statement, from initial planning to the final draft, followed by around six sessions of interview preparation. The applicant received an offer and is now studying on the course.

Questions about application support

How long does a personal statement or advice session need to be?

Sessions start at 30 minutes and can then be extended in 15 minute steps, charged pro rata at £50 an hour.

What happens in a mock interview session?

A one hour session is £60. It is usually around 30 minutes of mock interview, 15 minutes of general advice and 15 minutes of feedback, but the split is flexible and can be changed to suit what you need.

Which interview questions do you use?

Practice uses questions I know have come up in real EFDS interviews, alongside similar questions that are available publicly, so you practise on the kind of problems that are actually tested.

Can I book sessions regularly?

Yes. Sessions can be one off or recurring, and most students book regular sessions in the run up to their interview so each one builds on the last.

Can you help with Oxbridge interviews?

Yes. EFDS is the main focus, but I also offer interview preparation for Oxbridge courses such as Oxford Economics and Management, Cambridge Economics and Oxford PPE. I have been through four interviews for Oxford’s Economics and Management course, so I know that process first hand.

How do I book?
